is coolant, coolant? I need to top up my coolant level and am not sure if there is a specific type or can I just to the old half/half (or pre mixed) with run of the mill coolant?

 

Your manual should pretty much answer that questions or worst case just call a dealership and ask parts department

 

Don't use the run of the mill coolant.
There is a specific type and I believe it something along the lines of "pentosin" but just call the service dept to make sure.

 

G12 is the coolant used in Audi's (it's written right on the coolant expansion tank). When I need to top off and I can't get my hands on G12, I just add distilled water.

good. Never use regular coolant, it will turn into gel :P

That is only if you mix the two. By principle, any coolant does the job so long that you don't mix G12 with generic or vice versa!

Ummmmm as long as you have at least a bit of coolant in there you will be fine. I only could get coolant at the dealerships and its about 40$ i just do the job right on the spot there in parking lot lol. Pour it in and if any one gives you a look, tell them " waht ya looking at you wanka?" should be fine

dont top it of with water alone, its better to have low coolant and not drive too far, keep climate control off and such. Coolant is not something to take lightly
