Dumb A4 Avant question ...

Dumb A4 Avant question ...
I searched here and all over the place. Did the 2004 A4 Avant come as a front wheel drive option in Canada? It looks like the Quattro variant was the only way you could get an Avant in the US.
I ask because I'm looking at an 04 here in Toronto and the guy says its front wheel drive. How could I tell if it is (or isn't)?
Thanks
By the way - my first post (of many I'm sure) on here.

Re: Dumb A4 Avant question ...
Hey Glenn, whats the vin number? You can also tell if it is a quattro with the badging on the front grille and back end as well as above the glove box trimming. Those are the most obvious signs. All audis have a form of front wheel drive, they are about $5000 cheaper then the quattro. But the quattro is a good way to go. The front wheel drive vs quattro, is a huge difference and well worth the money.

Re: Dumb A4 Avant question ...
We had both years available, 2003 and 2004 A4 Avant CVT FWD.
Avants in general are hard to come by, I have a 2006 Avant 6 speed manual in black with 63ks.

Re: Dumb A4 Avant question ...
I currently own a 2004 A4 Avant FWD CVT. Great car, bought it for the quality and size but didn't want the complexity of AWD. With a set of winter tires, it will go anywhere; I've never been stuck and I ski regularly. That been said, I have a 2009 A4 Avant/Sport/Tip on order.

Re: Dumb A4 Avant question ...
Ok - so I've had the Avant for about 3 mnths and loved it until last week. The dreaded CVT transmission error. Check engine light and my "PRNDS" flashes. Help - what to do now?

Re: Dumb A4 Avant question ...
From day one the CVT are garbage and a misadventure for Audi. In most cases the controller has an internal defect and it's built into the transmission case. Even is the controller was replaced, don't be surprised if other issues arise from an internal leaking seal for sheave control.
Call the dealer for controller updates and flashes via your VIN.
