Default Differences between a 2000 A4 and a 2002 A4

What all are the differences between the 2? I have noticed a couple of subtle body changes along with dual exhaust. Also that you can get the 3.0L engine with it. Are there any other differences between the two?

Lots of changes. 2000 is the B5 model and the 2002 is the B6 model.

2.8L V6 replaced by the 3.0L V6. Interior and exterior upgrade which is more than subtle IMO. Stiffer chassis but also heavier. Elimination of the cloth sport seats for North America. List goes on and on and on.

They redesigned the car during that time as well, correct?

Was it 2004 or 2005 when they began using the 2.0T instead of the 1.8T?

Would you say that the 2002 model would be definatly worth the extra money?

B5 platform - < 2002
B6 platform - 2002 - 2005
B7 platform - 2006

The 2.0T arrives with the B7 model. In Canada it's the 2006 model year, and it was designated as the 2005.5 model year in the US but it's the same thing.

In a word: Absolutely. The car is tighter and quieter and some of the known issues are gone. Also, there seem to be more mods available

Subtle changes have been made throughout the B6 line ie: 2004 1.8 has a 6 speed whereas the 2002's and 2003's don't. One bonus with the B5 A4 (2000 and 2001) is that sport seats were available but not in the B6 model.

45% increase in stiffness to be exact. One complaint I had with the B5 - it flexed like crazy.

oh wow. So the B6 is definatly the best way to go? My only thing is that I am not going to be road racing the car. I like to have a quick car with decent handling, but i still need to use it to take clients around in, so i can't have it be a race car.

The A4 is really too heavy to be much of a race car. It's certainly very refined so with a mod or two (ie: chip) you'll have a classy everyday driver that's enjoyable to drive. Just be careful of the mod bug !!

haha no doubt. I'm just trying to figure out what my budget should be. I was looking at a S4, but it was going to cost me between $25-$30,000. Then I started looking at A4's, and I could get a decent one, with good km's for around $18,000, and then put a grand or 2 into it for mods. But concidering my situation, and use for my car, im wondering if the B6 A4 is worth the extra money or not. Also, if the car twists that bad, would swaping out the suspension help that out a bit?
