My cat started throwing a code a little while ago. The mech says that it is due to having the chip reflashed, but that doesn't seem like the case to me. I've got the new cat to install, but if this one is going to go too then maybe I should straight pipe it?

What is your mileage? Car manufacturers have a government mandated emissions warranty that your Audi may be eligible for. I know Audi refers to max 8 years of vehicle in service but I do not recall the exact mileage covered. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it was 120K KM so recommend check with Audi to be sure.

Most here would not recommend a catless straight pipe for a public roadway driven vehicle.

 

It has 160k on it, so no dice there.

What about a MagnaFlow cat or something similar?
