Yeah and your keys will de-program! Also the radio will need a code even with a quick disconnect trust me! Unless i royaly messed mine up by giving it a few sparks :) When I swapped batteries I didn't need a reset. Both times

I have not shorted the battery leads but I do know that when I replaced my battery, I had it electrically disconnected for ~10 seconds and I did not need to re-enter radio code.

I doubt shorting the battery leads will clear a legitimate CEL but it will static discharge the electrical system.
