Well I didn't disconnect battery yet.. I did find the stereo code but whats the deal with the keys? Is there a precaution to take?

I have not shorted the battery leads but I do know that when I replaced my battery, I had it electrically disconnected for ~10 seconds and I did not need to re-enter radio code.

I doubt shorting the battery leads will clear a legitimate CEL but it will static discharge the electrical system.
