a better explanation to throttle
This is a better explanation (I hope!)
Hey guys,
2005 A4 1.8T tiptronic.
Driving @ speed ,decide to pass a slower motorist, initiate kick down, throttle sticks WIDE OPEN, Tiptronic goes into safe mode, did not panic, got off road, shut "Christine" off, waited a few minutes, tried to re-start the vehicle, same issue...rpm's head for the limiter, shut off, waited a few more minutes, started car........no evidence of fault, tiptronic and drive-by-wire throttle operating nominaly......I have tried to reproduce the fault but with no luck.
OBD is not coding the fault and there is no warning lights other than the tiptronic display showing the tranny in safe mode (all gears flashing at the same time) This fault has occured twice in the last three or four months .....car is parked in heated garage...however, the one constant to possible cause and effect has been the weather, COLD
Any ideas???
NHTSA website has one similar complaint listed for the same year, make and model:
Make : AUDI Model : A4 Year : 2005 Manufacturer : VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC Crash : No Fire : No Number of Injuries: 0 ODI ID Number : 10161435 Number of Deaths: 0 Date of Failure: July 5, 2006 VIN : WAUDF68E45A... Component: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
Summary:
THE ACCELERATOR STUCK AND WOULD NOT DISENGAGE - DESPITE THE FACT THAT I REMOVED BY FOOT FROM THE THROTTLE. I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO GET THE CAR TO STOP AND AFTER A FEW SECONDS THE ACCELERATOR DISENGAGED BUT THEN RE-ENGAGED (BY ITSELF) AND THEN DISENGAGED THREE OR FOUR TIMES IN THREE TO FOUR INTERVALS. *NM
Thanx to all

Re: a better explanation to throttle
It sounds like your throttle body might be messed up did you get the vag-com and read it out or just a generic OBD II scanner??? There has got to be codes. But I think its having something to do with the throttle body switch
