Battery Drain Issue 2002 Audi A4 B6
Hi Everyone,
The battery of my Audi was totally flat last Monday after the car not being driven for 5 days. I called BCAA to jump start the car and drove it for about an hour. The next day, after 20 hour parking in the garage, the battery again went flat. I did another jump start and drove it for an hour.
I went to a private mechanic to have a load test done on my baterry. The result showed that the battery was charging fine. I was pretty sure I didn't leave any lights on last week.
The guy then suggested me unplugging the negative wire on the battery for a day to see if the battery itself has worn out and can't store the energy anymore. I then unplugged it for 24 hours and started the car the next day. The battery wasn't flat at all, and I could turn on the engine.
Does any of you know what the problem could be? I have never had this issue before with my car. Yesterday I heard my sunroof moving. It sounded like the hydraulic was moving by itself while I was driving. I then open the cover of the sunroof but didn't hear that anymoe. The sound was there only for a few seconds.. dunno what happened.. FYI, last week I just cleaned the sunroof after being closed for two years. I have never opened the sunroof for almost two years.
I bought this car two years ago and never replaced the battery since then. I am not even sure whether the previous owner ever changed the battery before or not.
Any comments or suggestions are appreciated..
Thankss

Help>>
I have just done my first experiment this weekend. On Friday I disconnected the negative wire from the battery again and left it off for the weekend. Today (Sunday) I connected it back to the battery and started the car. Surprisingly the battery was fine! Now I am pretty sure that there is a real electrical issue with the car. Again I noticed the sunroof was moving by itself while I was driving.. I didnt even touch the switch.. This is really weirdd
Does any of you think that the problem could be caused by the comfort module under the driver seat???? or could it be something else??
I really need help here guyss.. thanks

Re: Battery Drain Issue 2002 Audi A4 B6
Today I went to clean the drain holes under the battery. They didn't seem to be blocked out, and there wasn't any water accumulated in that area.
Despite all this, I have finally found the cause of the flat battery I had last week.. Hopefully this is the right one!! Tonight, when it was really dark outside, I noticed that the emergency flasher button inside the car didn't go off after the car is locked. For a second I thought it did, but then the next few seconds it went on again. So it kept illuminating on and off intermittently. I have disconnected the battery for now until I find the solution/ cause of the flasher being on and off even though the car has been locked.
Any idea what's happening to this car?? is it only a relay issue? or am I facing a serious problem here? I really need advise here..
I forgot to mention that the tail and front lights didn't flash at all, only the button inside the car.
Thankss

No idea about your battery issue, could be a faulty relay, but i never heard of this issue before. As for the possessed sunroof, that is a common issue, as i also have this , and it is an easy fix .
possessed sunroof
GL on the battery issue.

Thanks for the response Maple
The hazard switch still goes on and off intermittently even after I locked the car. Other than this, the door locks and other instruments work just fine, even all the lights function normally including the hazard lights at the front and rear of the car!! It's just the switch inside that illuminates and never dies. This is absolutely draining the battery! I have no idea how to solve this problem. I have been trying to look for the solutions online and couldn't find the exact same problem.
Some owners have problems with their door locks and some with the battery. But I have tried to let the battery disconnected for three days, and the car started just fine afterwards.
Perhaps some of you have experienced this in the past?? any hellppss are really appreciated..

Hi, I have just noticed my hazard switch light remaining on after I lock the car also. I have recently had some electrical work done as the air con blower fan was coming on intermittently when not necessary, and eventually started coming on when the car was not going. This caused my battery to drain also, and apparently was caused by the drain holes under the battery having water in it. There were a couple of relays that corroded and gave the fan a life of its own. If you find the reason for the hazard switch light remaining on, I would really like to know also.

My battery stopped draining a week after for no reason. Now the car starts just fine everyday. There was one thing I noticed last time, the rear right foot-light was off when the door was opened. Normally it should turn on once you open the door. However, it fixed itself after a few days and the battery drain issue was gone after. This is still a mystery to me until today
