Annoying Lights+Error
Once again the previous owner had to screw up such a nice audi. I have a 03 a4 2003. The previous owner put HID lights in them + ballasts. Now every time i turn on lights while engine is on, the e-brake light flashes, and the speedometer stops working. The only way around is to turn on the lights when ignition is on then start car. I have bought HID cancellers from ebay, but they still have the same problem. Any work around to this? Audi wants 3grand for there ballasts.

Just put regular H7 halogen bulbs back in and your back to stock. Problem solved. OR buy a different HID kit. Maybe people dont have that problem. Happens to me occasionally and it has a lot to do with where the ballasts are placed.
The ballasts dont cost 3 grand from Audi, don't know who you talked to for that. They are $463 per ballast, the bulbs are $97. But again if they are stock halogen headlights then you will not be able to put in these ballasts anyway.
I am positive that you have halogen headlights as well since you cant put in aftermarket HID kits without there being a gaping hole in the bottom and your headlights would be condensating constantly.

first off how did the previous owner screw up your car? Seems pretty clear to me that the headlights in your car are halogens and he has put in aftermarket HID kit in them.

Well, he did numerous stuff that is bad for the car. Ran power steering pump dry, never took care of interior etc. Really 463 per ballast? I guess thats why he left the ballast hanging down, i put them back up into proper position. How do i know my car was originally equipted with HID's or just regular bulbs. And there is no hole under the headlight assembly, just connected through the back. Whats my cheapest or best way to solve this problem. I dont care if i have hid's ill just get blue h7's. I tried buying h7's and replacing the current high voltage ones but the connector is different.
If they are connected through the back then they are not xenon headlights they are halogen housings.
Having Blue H7 bulbs is stupid and most people will flame you for that. If you want the HID look then get HID lights.
Your cheapest solution is to buy H7 bulbs from canadian tire for $10-$20 and go back to stock halogens or buy a new HID kit from a different brand.
The issue your having is probably with the kit that was installed on the car. I have aftermarket DDM HID kit in my halogen housings and have no problems.
Try moving the ballasts around and see if that helps as well.

I have DDM tuning HID's and dont have this problem, so like i said before. Buy a new kit and see if that helps.
DDM tuning and VVME provide good kits at pretty affordable prices.
a lot of people have solved the problem by moving the ballasts and tucking them on top of the headlights or moving them to a different spot if you can.
