hmm i'd say don't spend an extra $200 and go with DDM or VVME HID's. They are pretty cheap price and decent enough quality. I have a set of DDM's in my low beams and they have been going strong for about 2 years now, cost me $40.

Running HID lows and Halogen high beams is not uncool at all. Unless you have bi-xenon headlights then that is a normal situation. The single xenon headlights that come with these cars are equipped like that.

Also who told you that in Canadian models that have DRL have issues with the HIDs? This isn't true. Dont worry about relay harnesses or error code eliminators

Okay, maybe I got wrong information. Or could it be that the mess is with fogs instead of DRLs?

The reason I said that no HID on high beam was uncool is because on my last car, I've had a bad experience with HID and am now scared a bit about them. I discovered after installation that low beam = HID and high beam = nothing, nada, no light at all. Switching on high beam was turning off all lights and I did not find why...

Also, on the HID page here, there is a mention that "ONLY 35 WATT HID KITS CAN BE USED", do you know why ?? Because the main purpose of all these questions is to switch my headlights to those pretty nice. While in this project, I would drop in HIDs, if I still have high beam after lol.

So, no 55w?

Some B7 A4's have an issue with HID's in the fog lights where they flcker or dont turn on. You have a B6 A4 and everything is just plug and play, there are no issues.

The reason they say only 35 watt can be used is because 55w produces a lot more heat and there is a chance that it could melt things in the headlights. But that chance is almost 99% that it would never happen. Lots of people run 55w HIDs.

the reason they say that is so that people dont call the company asking for new headlights just in case that did happen.

Hi there,

I've received the headlights and they look pretty nice! I'm about to install them but I get confused. I've also bought VVME 55w HIDs, that will go in those headlights.

Please refer to the picture above, there are 3 "circles" which will contain bulbs. Circle #1 confuses me because there are *2* holes in it ???

Question #1 : why 2 holes in this circle?

Question #2, just to be sure, can you complete these statements ?
- Circle #1 is for : ________ (high or low beam)
- Circle #2 is for : ________ (high or low beam) and the reason why it appears to act as a magnifying glass is : ____________
- Circle #3 is for : (i suppose!) corner lights, aka flashers.

Question #3 : Will I need some sort of headlight adjustment after that? If so, I've read about some vag-com procedure (I have a vag-com) or with a screwdriver...

Please excuse the basicness of these questions!

you didnt say which "circle" was which. I will go left to right. 1 starting on the left side.

- Circle #1 is for : high beam

- Circle #2 is for : low beam and the reason why it appears to act as a magnifying glass is because its a projector style lens. It distributes the light better then reflector style. Reflector style is what the high beam is.

- Circle #3 is for : turn signal

Question #3 : It is plug and play, no vag-com adjustments needed. There should be little turn dials to adjust the angle and pitch of the headlights. This will help to align both headlights so that they aim properly. Here is a diy listed below.

Great, I'm progressing

Indeed you were correct to start from left to right...

Now I face 1 major problem : there is a rectangle under the headlight, which *could* house the ballast, but it does not fit at all. Is this place meant to receive a ballast? If not, where should I install the ballast?

Plus, what is about that 2nd hole in the High Beam ? It is clearly to install another bulb, which must be really, really small !
