Default 2007 b7 - cam follower check

Hey guys;

I'm around 77k and my warranty is almost up. Seeking some advice...

Cam followers, read on audizine that this is something that isn't reliable in the B7 and earlier models.

Should I get the garage that changes my oil to check up on the cam followers?

How much time should this job normally be charged for?

And do you think the Audi dealerships in Calgary would do a warranty repair on cam followers that have not caused fuel pump failure yet?

Thanks!

My suggestion would be to pay the dealer for an hour's labour to do a complete visual check of the cam follower and any other potential warranty related areas such as leaks & noises; if it's worn it should then be repalced under warranty and you shouldn't have to pay for the labour for the inspection. If everything is fine then you have just paid for some piece of mind. I plan on doing that with my Avant when it comes close to end of warranty. BTW you can also let the dealer know that you won't coming back to them for any work after the warranty ends so this is their last opportunity to do service work on you car; that should give them a little bit of an incentive to make sure they find any warranty related issues.
