Default Oil temperature/Coolant temp

I noticed that my oil temp does not reach 120'F. It sits between 60'F and 120'F.

I did however just found out i may have a faulty thermostat. My coolant temp fluctuates and it takes forever to warm up. It would rise when im at idle, and go back down when i start driving. This would typically mean that the thermostat is stuck a open. Sometimes it would reach 90'F even when im driving, and it would stay there. So, im assuming that it is working intermittenly. My question is, would this relate to my oil temp not reaching 120'F?

My other question is, would i be able to replace the thermostat without removing the timing belt(i still got 50,000KM on them still)?

2.8 Quattro 30V.

thanks,
Vince

If your engine is never getting up to temp, then the oil won't be able to heat up to operating temp either. Your problem does sound like a stuck thermostat - you can get to it without changing the t-belt.

Great, thanks Cheeba.

I will place an order for a new thermostat and hopefully try to replace this myself when the weather starts to warm up.
