I want to do a Bigger Turbo, but I need help/advice/ a shop(Vanc)
Hi,
I want to put a bigger turbo in my 2000 A4 1.8TQM sport.
I have been posting on the audiforums.com website that I need help/advise:
"www.audiforums.com/m_846924/tm.htm"Decided to go BT .... t3s60 vs gt28r vs gt28rs
Basically, I want to put in a bigger turbo, just big enough to keep up with a chipped S4, maybe a little slower, but I don't want lag, I want a good 0-60 and good response.
The point, I have been quoted $6000+ from some shops, I am willing to try and do work myself to put in say a gt28rs (about half that price) turbo but I don't want to mess up my car, and I'm a mech noob. If I need to spend more, it would be cheaper to buy an S4 and chip it, which is an option.... This is why I either need help or advice
Anyone in Vancouver with a BT in their A4? Gimmi some stats please (price, power, shop) and if this can be done outside a shop safely?
Thanks,
Glen

By putting in a BT you also need to do a lot of supporting mods. If the S4 chipped is an option go with it. The S4 chipped will still be way more reliable than the A4 with a BT. If you want to sink in a lot of money go with the A4 just know that down the road you will have to replace or rebuild the motor, but with the S4 it is already beefed up as it is and not very much will give with it being chipped so I say S4 all the way

S4 is a great car, but with a bigger motor comes bigger problems with bigger problems. When chipping an s4 you put a far larger load o nthe 2 turbos and they do not last long.
everthing is double the price to replace on your S4 compared to your A4 as well.
I recomend going to Kinetic, i have done all my work there and they are awaome, they have beaten everyones price everytime as well as doing amazing no problem return work.

good luck with this project. take pictures and post your DIY. be prepared to have your car on jacks for at least a week especially if you are a "mech noob".
