Did these cars ever kick

Re: Did these cars ever kick
so, somebody dumped the car on you. If you don't want to do the due diligence in buying a high end car, buy a cheap new one, maybe you're more suited to a Hyundia? I'm not being a smart-*** here, a new H is one of the best entry level vehicles around and have a great price/reliability record. Check out Lemon-Aid's Phil Edmonston,
Do Audi (and us) a favor and don't dump this one on someone else. Tell the new buyer what wrong and eat the money you lost.

Re: Did these cars ever kick
great Ozzie. just something with the turbo! any idea how complicated cars are these days?
Instead of trying to diagnose the problem "online", find a good shop that can read the codes, talk about turbo replacement and other possible problems. It's worth the money. As much as the suggestions shared here are likely great ones, the guy fixing your car will do it himself. Trust me, if you start telling him what to look at, what to do, he'll just tell you to **** off.
You have a high end car, you have to treat it like that, including a finding a private Audi guy that knows his stuff. I know the dealer situation for VW/Audi sucks, but it's the way things work.

J Ozzie,
You kinda ticked me off too asking about AUDIes having any guts... BUT YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING about it, and that is best!
Learn your car and know it best you can! Nothing wrong with asking questions! Ask away and work on fixing it yourself... may be more expensive or time consuming but will make you feel GOOD!
As for the "teutonic" guy, perhaps he should buy a Hyundai himself if he likes them that much; sell his AUDi to someone else for the reason of being too simple to appreciate a good car and refrain from giving useless and inflamatory advice...

No.1 check for some obvious loose hoses, craked hoses on line to waste gate
No.2 get your ECU checked for fault codes
No.3 rig a boost gauge..just go down to princess auto and get there $25 dollar boost gauge and T a hose in run through plenum over to your side window and put it on your dash for a quick check while driving. You should be able to check that with 1/2hr of time.
No4 check your exhaust back pressure
really there could be a lot of things going on here. For example, if you are not getting full fueling - limp mode or clogged injectors..you are not going to get very much boost, because you need exhaust temp and pressure to wind the turbo up properly. You can hear a turbo spin up when idling, but that is only a small percentage of the speed it needs to hit to generate full boost at 6500RPM. So hearing it whine at idle doesn't really mean a lot, other than it seems to be spinning freely, which is one good sign.
If you end up having to get a new turbo, get a K03 hybrid (bigger compressor wheel) or get a K04..and don't buy the cheap ones on ebay. They are made in China and will blow up..then you will need a new engine too.

Just because you've been together for 4 years doesn't mean you can't take it for a hard ride. LOL In most cases I think its poor servicing and neglect that leads to premature wear and failure, not using the OEM power to it's fullest extent. I like to do lots of PM so it's always in perfect shape..and I NEVER DO LAUNCHES. ouch!
