You car needs fixing... A4 1.8TQ is quite a powerful thing especially when "chipped".

Get somebody to check for codes with VAG-COM. Sounds like your running limp mode or something. Iether that or your engine is just warn out. Does it have high K? Been cared for by previous owner etc?
If your performance oriented, you should throw a boost gauge on there. I run boost and EGT on all my vehicles. It is good feedback. The 1.8T is good for serious power. Chipping, injector upgrades, turbo upgrades, it all available for this engine and the bottom end will take it.

Yeah right now its stock, nothin done to it and the k is about 174xxx, I will be gettin a boost guage asap.. What psi should i be looking for?

On flat it goes, and slight hills, just not hills like the Coquihalla where your at
500m and you climb to 1300m. Everyone rips by me and im in the slowww lane. It sucks...

First, don't read me as a 1.8T expert, I am more of a TDI buff. However, I will help you with what I do know. I do not know yor engine code for sure..should be AEB, but could be different. Look in the link below. It is a good trouble shooting discussion. If its AEB the OE boost is 8.6psi.

forums.fourtitude.com/zerothread?id=2666114

I understand you may be climbing moutain roads. If thats the case you will need to keep the RPM's up in the power band, as the torque for an AEB at that boost level is faily low. (I think its around 175ft-lbs or something like that.) If you want more mid range torque then you need more boost. But first figure if it's running ok with a code read and diagnostic. If you lived closer I would plug my VAG-COM in for you. Check on a few of the other Audi forums, or on the Rosstech website. You should be able to find somebody in your area to help you out with a read. With VAG you can check the fault codes and page through all the sensor readings. Even log readings while you drive. I would not own a VW/Audi without one as it saves bucks fast.

I just came back from the coast, via the coq.* I had no problem with my 1.8T, 6 spd manual.* Kept the rpm around 3K (5th gear) on the steeper grades, but the rest of the time, 6th gear on cruise.* Tons of torque for such a small cid/turbo.I am totally impressed with this car, performance, engineering, looks.* Nobody needs anything else.

BTW, it's nice to pass someone at 120kph and shift to 6th as you go by . . .

Did he read the codes? Did he check the boost level..the map values are available to read in diagnostics? What boost level is it running to? Turbo's generally do not run and not produce boost. The compressor wheel can get get less efficient and produce slightly lower boost levels (from getting dusted). The exhaust wheel can be melted if EGT's get to high, but that is in custom tune set-ups only. That would make it not spool up. Only other thing is the seals and bearing go. Your intake would be full of oil and you would be blowing blue smoke if that was the case. Is your air filter plugged? Or are your cats plugged? That can prevent turbo spool up too. Muffler shops can do a pressure test pre cat and tell you if the exhaust is flowing ok.
