Default Blown Turbo Belt? - 1.8T Quattro A4

I think I just broke a belt or something on the turbo. I was accelerating hard, the turbo was about to kick in and "pop" .... something broke ... the car now has a severe loss in power, makes a farting noise upon acceleration .. turbo is spinning, but doesn't seem to be adding any power .... no engine check lights on ... car was chipped ...

Any suggestions before a mechanic tells me I need a new turbo or engine?

Is the turbo driven by a belt that is prone to breakage?

Thanks!

I was also wondering ... is this the "limp mode" I've read about?

... also checked this morning ... disconnected the battery, reconnected ... didn't make a difference ....

... smell of gas also - running way too lean I think ...

.... any thoughts?

Turbos are not driven by belts check if all hose connections are tight and not loose or blown off and have you changed your diverter valve when the car was chipped. Also a good idea just to get the car scanned with vag com.

Most likely the same case as me right now.
You blew your DV. Check the "no boost" thread for more info.

+ Limp mode sucks!
I'm getting it fixed this week.

Thanks for the help .... doesn't sound like a blow DV is that serious ... so looks like I'll have to replace it with a 710N part number ... I assume any mechanic can do this?

Where are you taking yours? What DV did you buy? How much was it? How much was it to fix?

... is yours plodding along like it's on two cylinders and sounds like a 70's VW Bus?

Vag-com it. probably a DV-dealership part for 45 bucks, or a pipe(hose) has come off.
