Default 2001 A4 troubles... turning signals, radio, and window

hello all,

I'm new to this particular forum and could not find exact answers for these problems. If someone can help, it'd be much appreciated.

1. just today my turn signals have stopped working. it is not the bulbs as the light has come on briefly when activated (once for a split second then nothing after) and the fuse is fine in the panel. There is no normal audible sound either(tick-tick, tick-tick).

2. about a month ago I took asharp left turn and when I did the radio shut off and has not come back on. there is no lights at all and the fuse is fine in the panel.

3. rear drivers side window refuses to go up or down

Thanks for your help!

UPDATE!!

the Hazard lights work fine. High/Low Beams also work fine.
Just the turn signal indicators that do not work when used.

1. Most likely, it's the relay switch for the turn signals/hazard lights. Shop around, it's about $50 or $100 IIRC, and you can do it yourself with a bit of patience and 5 minutes.

...apparently it's a common issue with the B5's

2. maybe a loose wire i nthe stero?... I'd pull it out and check the connections, if that doesn't solve it you'd have to get a little more in depth with the trouble-shooting.

3. Faultly switch? bad fuse? check the easy stuff first

Thanks for the info.

I spoke with my local Audi dealership (Hamilton VW) today and was told that the relayswitch and radio fuse together would be no more than $100. No signals is a big deal and I don't have the radio removal tools so I'll pay to have it done asap.
I tried the rear window control in that door as well as from the driver's and neither work so I'm guessing the fault is with the motor unit or connector etc. I'll look into that myself when weather warms.

Thanks again

literally, it takes 5 minutes with a flat screwdriver to pop the panel. The swtich has a bitch of a clip, but just pull, hard, and it slides right out.

When mine went I drove the dealer, got the part, and did it right in the parking lot, without ever having seen a DIY or anything... note, I did curse at the swtich clips a few times.

Otherwise, just be careful with the panel so that you don't break the clips, and it's all butter.

As for dealerships... well around the same time I picked up a fob for my second key, Southgate wanted $100 to program it to the car. I went home, checked the internet, and in about 1.5minutes had it programmed by myself. For something as easy as that swtich was, don't pay the dealer... drive to house with a case of beer instead, if you really need help.

Thanks all for the info.....

I ended up getting the dealer to do it... the radio turned out not to be the fuse but the unit, and needed to be replaced. Luckily, the dealership was able to get me a refurbed one (symphony) for $45 and charged me nothing to install it.
$50 for the relay and install... can't complain too much about that.

thanks
