Default 1999 A4 Lower Rear Plastic Metal Trim

I was warned about this when I bought the car, the rear passenger trim beneath the door, attached to the frame falls off when I close the door ... I tried to re-seat the trim onto the white plastic anchors, but either the hooks have deteriorated away or the black metal/plastic hooks have corroded or deformed ... any tips, suggestions .... cheap part suppliers? ... the part I am talking about is black rubber/plastic with a metal spine on the back that seems quite prone to rust ....

thanks!

Yes - that strip is prone to rusting depending on where the car is located. Just go to the dealer and order replacements. I replaced both rear ones on my 1998 A4 a few years ago. Only cost about $30 each.

They release/attach via a screw at the front edge of the trim piece and then the whole thing is supposed to slide on/off; that screw gets quite rusted so you may have to drill it out. Could probaly get repalcements from a wrecker's yard but they would probably be in just as bad a shape anyway
