Default High flow cat help

Hey guys I am in need of some advice. I recently took the car in for an E-Test and it failed. The car has OE DP's with gutted pre cats. Would it be an issue to have my exhaust shop put Magnaflow HFC's in place of the gutted pre cats? They said it would have no problem passing e-test with the highflows in place but i wanted some insight from you guys especially if anyone has had the same issue.

Just a warning that HFCs tend to crap out pretty quickly. Yes, he's right that you'll pass emissions but you might end up having to replace them sooner than you think. I guess you got the car with the pre-cats already gutted?

Edit: Ah yes, this was mikeh's car. Hmmm...tough call. You might be better off finding used OEM DPs and having them temporarily installed but I guess you're probably running out of time. I guess you bought the car "as is" without emissions?

I just spoke with my exhaust guys and they said what they would do is keep everything how it is but add (2) magnaflow HM? cats (they said they are the good emission ones) after the last 2 cats. Yeah the emissions was out of date when i got it anyways so it needs to be done. If my exhaust shop did what they are suggesting that means cutting into the mid section of the stasis cat back which im not really liking the sounds of.

Yeah, I wouldn't suggest that. If you're really desperate, I guess I could loan you some stock OEM DPs. Have them mounted, do your test, then return them. You'd have to come to my place and pick them up and leave a cash deposit. Then, when you bring them back in good condition, I'll give you your cash back. It'll be a pain for me to get them out of the back of my storage locker (as I wasn't planning to need them for another year and a half but if you're really in a bind, I guess I could).

Thanks a lot for the offer, but i dont want to trouble you like that. I spoke with my exhaust guy again and i think we came up with a solution. He is going to remove the stasis mid section and replicate it but with 2 extra cats in it so that i can use that for the e-test, then remove it and put the stasis section back in. I will keep the replicated section for e-test purposes in the future.

Update: My exhaust guys (GT Custom Exhaust) did amazing work like usual and removed my stasis mid section and built a replica section with 2 additional cats that slips on for e-test purposes. Passed e-test with flying colours.....now its time to put the stasis mid section back in and get my sound back
