2006 audi s4 avant - does not start, cold weather
just bought the car from private seller a few months ago with 100,000 km. not under CPO. was always serviced at pfaff.
as the title says, the damn car would not start this morning. making the clicking noise.
a brief look online shows that this seems to be a common problem, especially in cold weather...
obv as a canadian car owner, this is unacceptable.
have heard ppl say to replace the ignition switch...
any ideas or similar stories to share?
/now starting to regret buying an 06...

Re: 2006 audi s4 avant - does not start, cold weather
I had the starter issue in my B6 S4 and I found salvation: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ial-Resolution
But only after I'd gone through a new battery. New starter fixed it. Unfortunately the problem tends to reveal itself when cold.
The short and simple solution is just to insist on getting it replaced IMO. Either the local dealer or JHM have them for $235 (http://jhmotorsports.com/shop/catalo...0664c95:cool:; I forget the other online parts supplier that stocks it sometime.

I am willing to bet it is a issue that he battery is draining too much with the car sitting.
I have the same problem with an 06 S4. Have gone through 2 batteries now in less than 6 years!

I've had a new one put in back in 2008 and had to put another new one in a couple of months ago. So once every 3yrs sounds like a norm for this then.
