S Model Fuel Consumption Survey - for fun
Hey,
Just wondering what kind of numbers others are seeing on their S models.
S5 Cabriolet 3.0L is what I have. If you have other please state.....
My average reading fluctuates between 15.2 and 15.4 L/100Km
My driving is pretty much the same every day except weekends.
Foot to the floor about every third day just to get my juices running.
(Mind you, know that I learned about "Launch Control") Yikes.
60% City
30% Hiway
Just curious what others are seeing............

Re: S Model Fuel Consumption Survey - for fun
My B7 S4 was around 16 mpg average and my RS4 is around 17 mpg
Mostly short drives, very little highway.
16mpg = 14.6 l/100 km
17 mpg = 13.8 l/100km
these are the indicated mileage displayed on teh DIS for long term averages (computer 2).
p.s. ironic that the 3.0T is worse than the 4.2 it was supposed to be 25% better than lol. Just goes to show you that the EPA type fuel efficiency numbers are just about worthless on performance cars because nobody drives them like grandmas.

Re: S Model Fuel Consumption Survey - for fun
I'd suggest using the old school method of determining consumption as the cluster can be out by more than 10%. For what its worth, my B7 cars (RS4 and S4 Avant) got very similar numbers to Saki's. Using Fuelly, I've averaged 12.1 L/100 KM over the life of my car (2 yrs in June) but its a lowly hairdresser "S" car ...

Re: S Model Fuel Consumption Survey - for fun
Great feedback...thanks.
Wow - 550km on one tank - that's impressive.
I'm lucky to exceed 320km.
Then again I only have about 1700km on my car.
I'm sure things will get better once it's started to break in.
I agree about doing it the old fashioned way. I'll have to try that next fill-up and compare to the on-board computer.

Re: S Model Fuel Consumption Survey - for fun
I get about 420km on a 60L fill so avg 14.25L/100km - this is usually when the readout shows 11.5L/100km
70% city stop and go to work
30% weekend/freeway driving.

Re: S Model Fuel Consumption Survey - for fun
Just did a full tanks worth and calculated it out the old way.
344Km for 52.979L
Results in 15.4L/100Km
Pretty much what my fuel consumption readout says.
Hopefully it will increase as I break in my car.

Re: S Model Fuel Consumption Survey - for fun
I have over 70,000 km on my B8 S4. I drive 70% highway. I always get about 500 km on a tank. If I drive to Montreal for example I average 8L/100km. city/highway 11.2 L/100km
Your mileage will improve as your engine breaks in. I drive my car like I stole it as I have a company gas card. So I don't baby my car.

Re: S Model Fuel Consumption Survey - for fun
holy 70ks already? Neat. I guess that makes sense. Seems like they're new still, but they're 3 years old already.
My best ever tank on my B7 S4 was 335 miles. It was the first tank I ever drove the car ironically (it was 1 year old with 20,000 miles on it already though). I was driving through some US states at 70mph the whole way and just taking it easy, although I did give it a couple of rips.
It never, ever, ever saw over 300 miles to a tank after that lol. 250 was normal...275 was pretty good. Anything north of that, I had to really work my ***** off. I drive mostly short trips in it though and rarely hit the highway for more than 30-40% of my driving.
p.s. B8 S4 3.0t average for everyone on fuelly.com is 19.4 MPG which is 12.1 L/100km. That's 150 users an average of 10,000 miles travelled each.
