Default Winter wheel set for my 09 A3 - 2.0

Does anyone in the GTA know a good place to purchase a set of winter wheels/tire set for a 2009 A3? A few wheel shops have told me that they do not make a steel wheel for my A3 2.0T, but some are saying the opposite.

What can I expect to pay for the steel wheels and a decent winter tire (performance) ?

Noticed the Audi Dealer is selling the classic Audi A3 5-star spoke wheels with winter tires for $1395.... not too bad considering your car will still look nice and sporty in the winter. they are 16" and they are made my RWC wheels... They put on this Italian tire, I can't remember the name.

Would be nice to have rims on in the winter... but not if the steel wheel package is way cheaper....

thoughts? Recommendations for tire shops with good deals?

thanks Audi peeps!

I would suggest 1010tires.com cheap shipping and you can get a set of wheels (not steelies) for around $1300 as well.

I am also looking for steel wheels for my 2009 A3. I noticed that at Canadian Tires they have a set of wheel in 16" for the 2008 A3 but nothing in the system for 2009.

Anyone know if something was changed between 2008 and 2009 ? Are calipers bigger, disks? Is the offset and bolt pattern the same? I have the S-Line Quattro. I wan't to go with 16" because I already have four winter tires almost brand new and would like to reuse them. They are 205/50/16

I have the exact same car... s-line, quattro, sport package. After realizing that the steel wheels are going to cost about $300 (and I seem to get mixed answers on their availability), I am leaning towards the dealers $1400 package. They give you the Audi 5-spoke wheels mounted with 17-inch winter tires.. some italian brand i can't remember the name.

Yesterday I received in the mail a flyer from my dealer offering winter tires.

They offer 16" wheel with Pirelli tires for $450 or $480, I can't remember, each!!! That's just crazy !

Standard steel wheels should go for $50-$80, add lets say $120/tires, so around $800

Since I have the tires already, so I'm hopeing to find just the wheels, I think I'll go to a tire shop near me and try on a couple of 16" wheels and see what fits. I sure would like to know if the info about the 2008 applies to the 2009.

I picked up a set from tirerack.com: 4 x 205/55R16 Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D's mounted + balanced on 16" VW steel wheels w/wheel covers + TPMS came to $1225 CAD shipped via UPS. The dealership just installed them during my last service the other day and there were no issues with fit.

FYI, I checked out the local Winnipeg dealer's winter tire package while I was there - 4 x 17" Audi 5-spoke alloys w/Pirelli tires was $1830 without TPMS, installation, GST or PST.

MY local dealer said $1399 for those Audi Alloys with these Italian winter tires (can't remember the name), but checked out the website. I will confirm when I go to see them, if it's true, then it's definately a no brainer to get the alloys for a bit more money.. I'll re-post once I confirm.

any reasons you didn't save money and go for one of the cheaper packages with lesser brand tires? are they garbage? I guess I don't want to be stuck with a crappy winter tire, but also don't want to spend too much, as it is winter!

Truthfully, I don't really know a whole lot about tires, so I chose the Dunlop's because they were consistenly highly rated on several tire websites. It was important to me to get a decent set of winter tires because here in Winter-peg, they might be on your car for 6 months. I'm not sure if you'd be compromising a lot to go with cheaper brand tires, but I'd imagine (as with most things), you get what you pay for. I asked around before I purchased, and it seems like it's tough to come out of buying a set of winters / extra rims for less than ~$1,200.

I agree, for $1,399, I might go for the alloys too. Check to see if the TPMS sensors are included in that price, since the poster at my dealer specifically stated they weren't. From tirerack.com, the sensors were $47 / wheel, and I'd be surprised if they're that cheap from a dealer.
