2012 A3 TDI or wait for 2013
Hi, I am very close to buy a A3. like in a week.
And I have found that there are all new 2013 models floating around the net for A3.
I have read somewhere that A3 will have it's new generation on 2014 model, but I guess I was wrong.
What do you think? Should I get 2012 A3 now? or wait for a year and get a new generation A3?

Like you, I don't think that the new generation A3 will be available for model year 2013 in America (maybe in Europe, but probably not in America), because Audi has only presented the A3 hatchbach three doors. Nothing was presented at the last Auto Show in New York. Everything seems to be going to the 2014 model year.
If you want a hatchbach, you should buy the current model. The Progressiv edition is very attractive for the price and his equipment.
If you want a four door sedan (small A4), expect the new model. Audi has announced that hatchbach model will not be available in America. By cons, the new model is more interesting (MQB new platform, new technologies, new design and perhaps a new diesel engine (rumor).
Up to you,
FourCircle

Re: 2012 A3 TDI or wait for 2013
Four Circle is correct, the new generation A3 will not be available for some time, likely to be introduced as a 2014 (Fall 2013).
The hatchback will be gone for 2014 model year, replaced by a compact sedan 4-door. Heard nothing about a new motor myself.
A3 Progressiv TDI is in very high demand due to the value of the Progressiv model. Best bang for your buck in my opinion.
Cheers,
Paul

To USPAVANTWANTED. FYI.
Car And Driver has unveiled the new VAG TDI engine for future Volkswagen under the new MQB platform. Given that Volkswagen and Audi share many engines, it may well be that the EA288 new diesel engine for the A3 (a Golf or Jetta TDI could be more powerful than A3, it would make no sense). But nothing is officially announced.
And, with 190hp, it would be enough for provide the diesel engine on the next A4. That makes sense.... I dream....
Quote from caranddriver.com:
"The EA288 diesel will be the TDI powerplant in the next-generation Golf, Jetta, and Passat. The inline configuration, iron block and aluminum head, and DOHC configuration will carry over, but horsepower from the 2.0-liter surges to from 140 to 190, while torque is up from 236 lb-ft to 280 lb-ft. Those two figures represent increases of 36 and 19 percent, respectively. Also, as with the EA211 gas engines, a belt that never requires replacement drives the camshafts."
