2006 A3 short shifter and shift/**** boot
Hey all,
I've recently installed the forge short shifter and its great and all but I still find that the gear shift lever is still a little high and long. I remember shortening the shifter on my old car and it shortened the shifts.
Would it be advisable to install the B&M short shifter also?

I'm not sure if it actually shortens the linkage, or essentially does the same thing as the forge shifter.
I'm also looking to change the shift boot and ****.... can anyone direct me to a reputable site?
I've looked at the OSIR USA **** and boot, and it looks nice, but i dunno if this matters .... it says the boot seems to only be available for a TT, not an A3.

I wouldnt waste your money on the b&m shifter. Great product dont get me wrong, but u already have shorter throws, so no point. Get a hack saw and a steel cutting blade or jig saw and cut it down. Forge has an oversized weighted shifter as well if ur interested(if u get it please let me know how it is, as ive been contemplating it for a while now)
Good luck

Lol seriously? Hack it down?
It'll be permanent and I'll never be able to bring it back to stock. (for resale later if needed)
I heard our cars dont use threaded type *****, so this would actually work.
The only other brand other than OSIR I found that has decent boots/***** is Momo.
I'll check out the forge ones. (I'd like to get a somewhat matching boot)
Any other suggestions?

Thats absolutely correct, resale will require u not telling them or u changing it out. Have u checked the oem price? If its not too much buy oem and cut it then u have replacement. Forge shift **** is weighted, so its suppose to make shifting effortless, but also bigger then normal so not sure about it. Momo has very nice ***** and boots, sparco has a couple, it all depends on personal style

I have a buddy that always hacks down his ***** (snicker) on VW and audi's. Not even noticeable unless you told someone that it was done so I doubt it will really affect resale.
